The protestors wre told by the soldiers that they are peacekeepers. This event is part of a larger international war of words between the Georgia, the United States and the EU against the Russian Federation. Russia, who hosts the 2014 Winter Olympics in a city about 20 miles north of the breakaway province of Akbhazia, Georgia; has stated several times that it is allowing its soldiers to stay in Georgia as peacekeeping forces while Georgia and its allies have repeatedly told Russia to take all troops out of the nation. Xcel Will Use Solar Power for Republican National Convention. -Xcel Energy is adding solar panels to its natural gas power plant in St. Paul in preparation for the Republican National Convention. Both political parties are paying premium prices for alternative energy to power their national conventions this year. The solar project at the High Bridge power plant will cost about $225,000. Plant manager Jim Zyduck is calling it a small but lasting test of combining power sources. He says there are advantages to having solar - and other alternate power sources - on the same footprint as a conventional power plant. For one thing, it means the utility can easily offset the electricity from solar panels by burning less natural gas. The new panels will generate less than one percent of the power used at the RNC. The rest of the green power organizers are paying for will come from wind. Most Americans do not care on a Saturday in the heat of Summer what is happening in the political realm unless the news touches their lives. Many did care and went to the speeches in Springfield, IL Saturday. McCain's campaign also cared and put a second rate ad on the airwaves that mentions some remarks from Biden about Obama and McCain. But what do Americans really worry about? They worry about their bills and their pay. They worry about their college bills their utilities, their gasoline, their groceries, their repair costs, their mortgages, their cell phone bills and so many other costs in this nation. They worry about their wages that stay low unless the minimum wage is illogically raised. Socialism and communism by Barack Obama is not the answer. Tax rebates by John McCain is not the answer. Cutting government spending DRASTICALLY is the answer. Since the start of this great nation the national deficit has been a bane on this nation and has almost as much negative affect on the economy as the 1.43 million abortions of the year of 1990! The national started at 75 million in 1791 BUT NOW IT RISES BY THAT AMOUNT ALMOST EVERY HOUR! This is a terrible atrocity by the federal government! I know I am last one to speak since I am $10,000 in debt myself. But this is a serious problem and can only be fixed by cutting spending, working with private lenders and freezing the federal reserve. Not even President Clinton's plan which he stole from the republicans even worked because Clinton broke the rules and spent more than what came into the treasury. If this nation would cut spending on federal welfare, public education and elected representative's salaries and added taxpayers by cutting welfare recipients, overturning Roe V Wade and making income taxes flat at 5 to 10% and creating jobs through American oil drilling. If this government would make a concerted effort to cut spending and disappear the national deficit in the next twenty years and then never go in debt again we would over the next fifty years see businesses expand, wages grow, the minimum wage be unecessary, regulations cut, production raised, blue collars jobs desired and the general public meeting each other's needs without the help of government. We would see the government able to crack down on drug users, murderers, fugitives, theives, treasonists, illegals, and world terrorism. We would see new beltways in the major cities and government housing sold back to the people. We would see prices stay relatively the same and little inflation unless necessary. We would see the ecomonic America that our founding fathers espoused in the eighth and ninth article of the constitution. I hope that we will also one day see the ethical American that our founding fathers also espoused. Let us remember that America can be better but not with the usage of billions of virtual dollars that the two major campaigns plan and promise! This is the opinion of editor, Benjamin Fugate
