McCain and Obama Debate in Mississippi- Friday- Candidates John McCain and Barack Obama debated on the economy and foreign policy in Oxford, Mississippi. McCain decided to participate in the debate even after declaring that he wanted the debate to be postponed until solution to the economy was voted on in the Senate. The debate started with questions on the economy. Obama blamed the policies of President Bush and of John McCain by saying “We have to recognize that this is a final verdict on eight years of economic policies promoted by George Bush, supported by John McCain”. McCain criticized Obama's economic plans to increase spending by $800 Billion. Both candidates contended that the other's tax plan will not be successful for the economy. The debate moved to national defense where McCain spent plenty of time defending the war in Iraq and the surge of troops in the last 18 months. Obama stated that he has always been against the war in Iraq and the surge. Obama continued to state that Afghanistan needs more troops than Iraq. McCain then took a jab at Obama by stating that Obama supported the same type of tactic in Afghanistan as he opposed in Iraq. Obama's stab at McCain was reminding the Arizona Senator that the war in Iraq started in 2003. On Iran, Obama stated that McCain's own advisor, Henry Kissinger had stated that meeting with the Iranian president without preconditions was a good idea for a lower level presidential representative. McCain stated that Obama's former comments pointed to meeting Iran's president face to face and “this is dangerous”. Monday, September 22, 2008 Colts get a taste of their own medicine! Sunday- The Colts lost a hard fought game to their division rival, Jacksonville, the same way that they won a week earlier. The Jaguars took the last possession 47 yards on seven plays and then Josh Scobee kicked a 51 yard field goal with 4 seconds left to give the Jaguars the 23-21 lead and eventual win. On the drive the Jaguars were rewarded a first down after a fourth and 1 incompletion. The result of the play was changed by a defensive holding call on Colts Linebacker Freddie Keiaho. Coach Dungy said that he never got an explanation for the call but that the Colts could still have stopped the Jags on later plays. The game had started with a Colts touchdown on the first drive, with Marvin Harrison silencing the critics with a TD catch for the first time in almost a year. The Colts forced a Jaguars field goal and were threatening again when Rashean Mathis intercepted Manning and took the ball back 61 yards for a score. The Colts took the lead back with another TD drive to end the half. But the Jaguars running game kept them in the game as Jones Drew accumulated 121 yards on the ground and 59 more in receiving. Jones-Drew scored his only TD with 1:17 left in the third quarter. The Jaguars added to their three point lead with a Josh Scobee chip shot with 2:33 to go in the game. That Jaguars drive consumed 12 minutes and added six first downs as the Colts could all but stop the Jaguars two headed running attack. The Colts scored too quickly after that FG with a 77 yard drive that ended with a TD with 1:07 left. The Colts would pay for leaving too much on the clock. Packers Get Creamed by Cowboys! The Green Bay Packers lost at home to the Dallas Cowboys for the first time in history. The Packers were not able to defend Lambeau Field as the two teams traded field goals in the first quarter. The Cowboys then scored on a Felix Jones 60 yard TD run to give them a 10-6 lead after the Packer's second field goal. The Cowboys added a field goal and led 13-6 at halftime. The Packers tried to get a TD drive going in the third quarter after quarterback Aaron Rodgers 50 yard pass to Donald Driver, but the drive ended in another field goal. The cowboys then scored touchdowns on two drives that featured long passes to little known Miles Austin. Austin caught a 63 yard pass and ran to the 2 yard line to set up another Jones TD. Then lated Miles scored on a 52 yard reception. The Packers' only TD came when the game was decided and the score ended at 27-16 Fugate Continues to Be Robbed After making all the calls and doing a lot of the work to clean up the house and get the deposit, Fugate continues to have absolutely nothing from the effort. Fugate called his landlord, Randy, on Sept. 6 to inform him that the deposit needed to be returned by October 1st or a lawsuit would ensue. The landlord promptly placed the check in the mail and sent it to Archie T. Green, Jr.. Ty gave a check of about $400 to Mike Bolton Jr. on Sept. 17 to divide between Mike and Benjamin Fugate. Ben expected the money to be deposited into his bank account soon, but that has not yet occurred. It has been 10 days and many promises since Mike said that he would deposit the money into Ben's account. Mike Bolton now has gone too far and Ben called a spiritual leader who attends Mike's church and has discipled Mike many times. The leader said that he will look at his schedule and see what is the best time to meet. Fugate has repeatedly called Mike and has received hangups like crazy. Explosion Just Over a Mile from Fugate's Workplace A vacant north Minneapolis fourplex exploded into ruins Sunday morning after copper theft led to a natural gas leak. CenterPoint Energy spokeswoman Becca Virden said a company supervisor at the scene of the explosion at 2407 Golden Valley Rd. determined the cause with Minneapolis Fire Department investigators. The building had been vacant and boarded up for about a year, said Minneapolis fire investigator Denise Bryn. No injuries were reported. Rene Hatchett, who lives in a duplex next door, said she awoke about 8 a.m. to the strong smell of gas. Her downstairs neighbor, Charmaine Brown, said she tried to call Minneapolis 311, a source for city information, services and complaints, from a nearby pay phone but could not get through because she didn't have 50 cents for the call. Brown said she then dialed the operator in hopes she could be connected to help, but was told to call 311. Brown said she didn't have the money and left. "I smelled gas real bad to the point that I felt nauseous," said Brown, adding that she didn't call 911 because she didn't think the smell was an emergency. Hatchett was cooking when the vacant house exploded about 10:30 a.m., shattering her windows. "The whole house just shook," she said. "I thought it was an earthquake."The explosion threw Brown several feet before she grabbed her son and ordered her daughter to evacuate. Debris from the house blew into her home. The force of the explosion was felt about a mile away, Bryn said."It sounded like a bomb," Brown said. Both families were relocated by the American Red Cross. Hatchett said her teenage daughter had heard people moving around the vacant house about 2 a.m. Sunday The house is located just over a mile east of where Benjamin Fugate is a security officer. Article borrowed from Star Tribune Editorial.- The do-nothing congress of Nancy Pelosi is at it again and the republicans are finally being conservative. The democrats are agreeing with President Bush and his advisors. The democrats, who have assailed Bush on almost everything, especially the economy, now are agreeing with his plan. WHY? Because it is a liberal, socialist, Marxist plan to take over all the banks and control the economy. For the first six years of this decade we saw the republicans barely agree with President Bush. They turned down his bill to end the ill-advised oil drilling moratorium. From 2001 to December 2006, they passed so many spending bills that the democrats would even have to blush. The republicans were even split on the troop surge. But now the republicans are who they should be. With new leaders like John Boehner, Mike Pence, Jim DeMint, John Carter, Paul Ryan, Jon Kyl, Michelle Bachmann, and others, the republicans have had more power in the Senate and House than they did in the six years that they had the majorities and the presidency. The Republicans are finally conservative like their constituents. The republicans will win the senate and they will take the presidency again while the democrats will lean so far to the left that they cannot balance themselves. This is the opinion of editor Benjamin Fugate. Young Turns 79 On September 25, 2008, Harry Young of Indianapolis, IN turned 79 years old.
