Benjamin Fugate Gets $1800 in His Tax Refund.-
Benjamin Fugate drove down to West Central Iowa on Friday and enjoyed the company of some of his friends. While there, his friend's dad did his taxes. Fugate will receive $1800 federal tax refund and a $344 state tax refund, he will also receive $247 back in property taxes.
On Tuesday, Feb. 17th, his mom will celebrate another birthday. She stopped counting a few years ago. But Ben's mom always shares a birthday with Michael Jordan.
Fugate will be officiating the basketball scoreboard at Fourth Baptist on Tuesday as they entertain MACS rival, Chisago Lakes. Fugate wants to do a better job than the scoreboard operator at the Iowa basketball games that he watched on Saturday. The bookkeeper was a boy that is barely in 6th grade. The referees had a tough time keeping the games called even when most of the time one team was committing a lot more fouls than its opponent. Apparently one of the officials loved calling travelling sometimes he called it even before it happened.
In other news, Fugate's computer crashed again this past week. Fugate hopes to use part of his tax refund to buy a new computer. He plans to use the rest of the refund to fix his power steering and pay off his school bill. Any money left will go into savings. Fugate is still considering what would be the ethical move when it comes to cashing or burning his stimulus check from President Obama which will be coming sometime this year.
