Thoughts on the latest in sports

I have two major subjects to discuss on the sports forefront.

First, Big 12 President, Brady Deaton had better try to get 4 or 5 new teams to join the Big 12 very soon or he must step down. I have some suggestions: New Mexico, Texas State, Rice, Tulsa, SMU, Colorado State, Missouri State, Northwestern State, Wichita State. The Big 12 has been way too lazy, they may need a new president who is much more active.

Furthermore, the NCAA President, Mark Emmert must stop conference expansion for at least one year. I know that this contradicts the previous opinion, but I am seeking in the best interest of the person in view.

If Iowa Editor, David Craig, is correct; the NCAA  basketball tournament will also be affected by these "super-conferences". In his estimation, only the teams from the four super-conferences will be allowed in the Division 1 tournament and all the mid-majors will be left out to dry. If Marcus Troy, Senior Sports Editor, is correct; the conference realignment will not affect March Madness.

Second, the Indianapolis Colts need to show the Polians the door and shut it on them on the way out of Indy. The Polians waited for six months to get a solid backup QB that could fill-in while Peyton rehabbed. The Colts should have assumed that the evil lockout would hurt Peyton's chances of returning to game form. The Polians then lied this week and said that Peyton would not have another surgery.

Dishonesty is theme of both of these subjects. In the conference realignment, the SEC voted down Texas A&M and then changed their minds after saying that they were not willing to add Terxas A&M at the time. The SEC is a dishonest league.

Peyton Manning will HAVE TO RETURN this season if the Colts want to continue to compete in the NFL. Their basketball counterparts, the Indiana Pacers have suffered low attendance over the past several years.

The Pacers lost Reggie Miller, a player who has much less caliber and influence than Peyton Manning, and they lost more than 4,000 in game attendance (about 20%). These same fans are Colts fans and the NapTowners will leave the Colts if Peyton is not playing. This possible damage could have been deferred if the Colts had drafted a QB in the 2011 draft. But the Polians have put less effort into the draft in the past few years. Now it is time for the Polians to go, and for someone better to take over.
