Coach Champion Retires from Coaching
Today, Coach Keith Champion, head coach of Clearwater Christian College Men's Basketball has announced his official retirement from coaching. He coached for 40 years, most of that time in Christian college basketball. He started the basketball program and Northland Baptist Bible College (now Northland International University). He also coached at Pensacola Christian College.
He also coached at Gilead Christian School in Macon, GA and Tabernacle Christian School in Gardendale, AL. Then he coached at Pillsbury Baptist Bible College until it closed in 2008 leading the Comets to four NIAC titles and two North Central Region titles including a Fourth Place National Championship finish in 2001. In 2009 he took over at Clearwater and led them to a regular season region title in 2012 and a sixth place Nationals finish. He will be sorely missed in the coaching field and in all of college sports.
Coach Keith Champion is a graduate of Western Michigan University. Keith Champion and his wife, Judy, will be accepting year-round positions at Fort Bluff Camp in Dayton, Tennessee this summer.
