The regular NFL referees must return by Sunday or the NFL is a mockery! The ref who signaled "touchdown" is actually a California Interscholastic Federation basketball referee. That's right, he is a high school basketball referee! Kyle Courtney, vice president of the LLT, reports that Lance Easley is a Santa Maria, CA resident. Easley has officiated in games coached by Courtney. According to the Santa Maria TV channel 11 "Easley lives in Santa Maria. He referees for junior college football and basketball games. He also is the president of the Los Padres Basketball Officials Association." (see previous link). Kyle Courtney will continue to investigate the situation and bring the latest on Easley's plans for the 2012-13 CIF basketball season.
