Crossroads win in OT!

Tuesday- Andy Carson had 24 points as Crossroads took an extra five minutes to finish off NIAC rival AFLBS. The first half half went back and forth until Crossroads jumped out to a 22-14 lead. they maintained that lead into the break where they were up 36-27.
      In the second half, the Conquerors stayed within 7 points and got within 5 at 51-46. Then the Knights senior guard Josh Klassen got hot, hitting two treys and a mid-range jumper to give Crossroads a 59-46 lead. Andy Carson added a two-handed slam to give his team a 65-53 lead with 6 minutes to go. AFLBS began to use a 2-1-2 full court press and closed the gap to 67-61 with three minutes after a Daniel Pflughaupt 3-pointer. Tim Papillon helped his Texan teammate with a couple baskets of his own and brought AFLBS within 2 at 69-67 with 28 seconds left. AFLBS tied it up with 6 seconds left. Crossroads called timeout in the front court with less than four ticks left. Dominique Wright missed an off-balance mid-range jumper and the two teams needed overtime to determine a winner. 
         AFLBS took their first lead since early in the contest at 72-71 after another Pflughaupt trey. Crossroads answered with a Eugene Gipson layup and Dominique Wright three to take a 76-72 lead with 2:40 to go. AFLBS scored three points on two possessions to pull within one with a minute and a half left. Eugene Gipson hit another layup to give Crossroads a three-point lead. Dominique Wright hit two free throws with 13 seconds to go to seal the victory for the Knights. Josh Klassen had 11 including three from beyond-the-arc and Dominique Wright contributed 14 points to help Crossroads to the important win. Kyle Arneson led AFLBS with a quiet 19 points. Pflughaupt added 18 in the loss.
