I SAW McCAIN and PALIN!
Listening to KTLK FM today, I heard that John McCain was going to be in Blaine, MN today which is about 15 miles north of where I live. I decided that this was going to be a great time to get over there and see him. I went to my class and chapel and then got on John McCain's website. I clicked on events and printed off a ticket to the event. I found the directions to the event and then drove up I-35W to the Anoka Cty-Blaine airport. I parked at the CVS quite far away and walked about 2 miles to the Key Hangar where about 13,000 people were standing.
Palin spoke first. It took me about 4 minutes to spot the Governor who was in a green blazer. She spoke for about 12 minutes and then McCain spoke for a little bit shorter. I barely heard them but it was exciting to see a presidential candidate and a vice presidential candidate from about 1000 feet away. There were about 20 Obama/peace supporters outside the gate which was about half a mile from the hangar. But they were peaceful and not abusing of their freedom unlike the McCain supporter who was pointing his index finger at a peaceful Obama supporter inside the hangar. The sixty year old man was escorted out of the building by the police and I support that move. The Obama sign holder was quite peaceful and was bothered by several McCain supporters, but in the end for his own safety he also left the rally.
Palin and McCain were well supported by loud cheers and even some "boos" as they attacked Obama and Biden. There were even some seventeen year old girls who had shirts that said "if only we could vote". Many families were there along with hundreds of older veterans. The group had older couples as well as younger couples. Some of the younger wives sat their husbands' shoulders to see the candidates. These women were not midgets either. I did hear McCain talk about his plan for the economy and Obama's inferior plan for the economy. The event was great and I am really glad that I went. I would love to see your opinions on McCain/Palin and their historic plans to "shake up" Washington.
