Twins don't score in the season's most important game!

After a hard fought 162 games, the Twins and White Sox were tied at 88-74 for the AL Central division lead. The Twins were behind in the division for most of the season with a short regin at the top in late August, but after falling 2.5 games back to the White Sox, the Twins swept the South Siders and took a half game lead into the final weekend. That lead stood because the Twins and the Sox lost two out of three to finish the week. The White Sox hade to make up a rain cancelled game with the Tigers and won that game 5-1 at Comiskey. The White Sox then forced the Twins to come down to Chicago for a tiebreaker. Both pitchers threw great games and were gunning for extras until the bottom of the seventh. In the seventh inning, Jim Thome of Chicago led off the inning with his 34th home run and gave the Sox a 1-0 lead. The centerfielders for the Sox was the story of the game though. Ken Jr Griffey started the game and threw Michael Cuddyer out at the plate. Then Brian Anderson took over and caught the game winning out. The White Sox will play in Tampa on Thursday to begin a best of five Division Series with the AL East winning Rays.
