"Unions represent rank-and-file, common workers, not the elite. OK, Ben, how many times have you listened to a boss or prospective boss say something stupid and think to yourself, "Dude, this is stupid [or, this job, company, boss, or pay is lousy], but I need the money"? Many people have lost count. This happens b/c employers (or bosses) know that you need the money and will just take it. They would never try these things in a balanced, arms-length negotiation b/c you would tell them to take a long walk off a short pier. Enter, a union: This nonsense largely goes away. Why don't you resent doctors and dentists? They operate cartels by limiting supply of labor, and they make quite a bit more money than the avg. union worker."
